 International Rankings Reveal the Best Universities in Pakistan

The international rankings of Pakistani universities have been released, and the results are in! All four Pakistani universities that were included in the QS World University Rankings 2018 were ranked between 401-500 out of 1,000 universities worldwide, which makes them a cut above the average university when it comes to research and study opportunities. In addition, many other Pakistani universities are also performing better than expected! 2 Pakistani universities made it to the world's top 300

Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018-19 has ranked Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) at 198th and National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) at 230th among all universities from around the world. The QS rankings had three Pakistani universities—NUST at 221, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology at 250 and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) just below it—in its top 500.


17 Pakistani universities in Asia's top 300

International rankings reveal that 17 Pakistani universities feature on a list of 300 Asian universities. Unsurprisingly, it's hard to argue with Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s (HKUST) status as Asia's number one university, but which other Pakistani universities made it onto Times Higher Education's new list?.




National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) makes its way into the World Top 100

With two campuses across Islamabad and Lahore, NUST has catapulted itself into the top 100 institutes on Quacquarelli Symonds' World Top 200 Universities list. The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) has again made its mark by becoming a member of QS World Top 200 Institutions after making it to last year's QS Emerging Markets Group.


Agriculture University Rawalpindi breaks into Asia's top 200

The Higher Education Commission's top 200 list has ARU at 147, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) at 185 and National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) at 188. The universities were ranked on an elaborate set of parameters to reach a final score. In addition to individual scores for every parameter, every university was required to achieve a minimum score on each parameter as well as have an overall minimum score for inclusion in HEC's top 200 rankings.


Karachi University among world's best schools at #281

Karachi University made it to a list of top 350 universities under 50 years old. Ranked at #281, it is one of only two Pakistani institutions ranked by QS among 350 best young universities.


Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) makes it into the top 500

If a recent report is anything to go by, it seems Pakistan’s academic institutes aren’t completely unranked. According to Times Higher Education (THE), Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) has made it into the top 500 in their list of best universities around world. And if that’s not good enough news, then here’s more: only two Pakistani universities made it onto THE’s list.


Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad - Aims for Top 200

The Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) has set its sights on making it to world’s top 200 universities by 2020. The government needs to take radical steps, including investing more in R&D, and encouraging research, while keeping a check on standards of teaching and learning if we want our universities to be counted among international best. QAU currently ranks 725th on Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, 701st according to U.S.


Fatima Jinnah Women University - Ranked at #490

Starting as a university for women only, Fatima Jinnah Women University has since expanded to include men. Founded by Fatima Jinnah, sister of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, it was one of three universities established under her leadership (Jinnah Hospital and College being two others). Today, as part of a government initiative to provide higher education opportunities to women throughout Pakistan, JU’s programs are open to both genders.


One Pakistani university among Asia's best 50 universities under 50 years old

One Pakistani university has made it to a list of Asia’s best 50 universities under 50 years old. Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) is ranked 43rd on The Times Higher Education Asia University Ranking 2016, which was released Thursday. It was ranked fifth among universities in South Asia and 10th among all younger universities, globally. LUMS is one of two Pakistani institutions on the list.
